    • Good all-rounder for town and country.

      Sue (United Kingdom)
Used for 1 week or less
Ordered at 14:00 and ready for collection at 17:00. (Southampton, UK) The bike was nicely set-up, wheels were true, and small details, like grease on the pedal threads were attended to.

I bought this bike for city use, with occasional off-road bike trails, and for that it's great. I also went for the steel framed R'side 120 for comfort. Bike has eight gears and a thumb-shifter, plus V-brakes. The rims are really nice and eyeletted. V-brakes were also nicely set-up, and I think that the set-up on this bike is about the best I've ever had (I've owned expensive bikes before.)
Tyres are quite wide at 42mm with knobbly shoulders. They are great on farm tracks but I will replace them with slimmer tyres for town.

The only quibble is that the saddle is not adjustable for angle, though it can be adjusted backwards and forwards. The bike also has quick-release wheels, these are great as I can remove the front wheel and put the bike in the back of my hatchback.

I think if you want a town bike with a comfortable 'look-ahead' riding position this works well, and it can also be used on trails and tracks. It can be easily customised with lighter tyres and an adjustable seat-post if you need to, and it's a very pleasant easy bike to use in town.

One note: the frame sizing is generous, so you might need a smaller frame than you think. The (M) medium size 19" bike also fits my 6ft (1.85m) friends, so try before you buy.

      Stuart (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Purchased this bike from possibly the rudest sales assistant at the Decathlon Store in Edmonton. Thought he was being sarcastic when he said it was not a bike to use every day, but he was 100% correct in this regard at least.
Recently took back for the one month free health check. Bike was initially returned with absolutely nothing being addressed or fixed. Bike is of poor quality and in my opinion dangerous. I would return and get my money back if I could. Was intending to purchase one of their mountain bikes, but seeing a sign in their store saying certain models in their mountain bike range (B'TWIN 520 and 540 models from 2017 ) are being recalled as the frames may break - well to be honest guys I would steer well clear. Did I say the staff were shockingly rude, disinterested and lazy! Thought I'd just reiterate!
      Response of the brand
      Dear sir,
I am sorry to read that you are not satisfied with your Riverside 120 hybrid bike. I would be very happy to hear from you directly regarding the parts on the bike which were not satisfactory as I can then forward this on to the design team at Decathlon.
Regarding the recall on the 520 and 540 models, a small batch which was produced over a 4 week period which had an issue but it was not related to the frame and had no impact on the safety of the product. We frequently batch test all of our bikes as a precaution in order to ensure the best quality bikes leave our factories. This is why we offer a lifetime frame warranty on all alloy and steel bikes.
