"Rain-Cut Pant" overtrousers protect the lower body and provide comprehensive, highly-effective protection from the wind and rain showers. Care products: spray or liquid water repellent treatment in the washing machine. To replenish the waterproofing of the fabric and to optimise the performance of your clothing for the entirety of the product’s life.
    7. Waterproof component
We measure a fabric's resistance to a column of water in mm (based on the ISO 811 standard). The higher the water pressure withstood, the more waterproof the fabric. A waterproof rating of 2000 mm means the fabric can withstand the pressure exerted by 2000 mm of water (the equivalent of a rain shower lasting for two hours).
    8. Waterproof garment
Technologies: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 60 litres of water/sqm/hour for 2 hours. This test reproduces the average conditions of a rain shower in the mountains.
    9. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the fabric's resistance, the more water vapour generated by physical activity evaporates, and the higher the fabric's breathability. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
    10. Water repellent component
A fabric is water-repellent when it allows water to slide over its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The fabric is made water repellent by treating its outer surface. This treatment needs to be renewed over the course of the product’s life (we recommend every 3 washes). All Quechua waterproof jackets have received a water-repellent treatment.

    • Great as a lightweight waterproof jacket

      08/01/2017
      James (United Kingdom)
Used for 3 to 6 months
Great jacket for the price, some idiotic comments that people have left. Like it loses it waterproof after one wash!! A £500 jacket would lose its robust waterproofing after one wash if you are stupid enough to put it in a washing machine, you wipe these down just like any jacket.
Lightweight, packs small, great for the price
      nothing the price counteract these
    • Superb design but poor waterproof underlayer

      29/10/2016
      Victor (United Kingdom)
Used for 3 to 6 months
Unfortunately I had to return this jacket because it stoped being waterproof after first wash. The design is very good, fits very well but if the underlayer was better it would be the greatest jacket to buy.
You can't have everything but adding a bit more polyurethane on the underlayer will be a great idea
      Fit very well
Stop being waterproof after first wash
      Response of the brand
      Hello,
Thanks for your comments on the Quechua Rain-cut jacket. I apologise for the inconvenience caused by the waterproofing of the jacket. If you are still searching for compact waterproof jacket, I would recommend the following: http://www.decathlon.co.uk/arpenaz-100-mens-waterproof-jacket-blue-navy-id_8356255.html. Whilst it does not pack into a pocket, it is still a compact rain jacket suitable for packing into a backpack. The Arpenaz 100 also comes with an inner liner.
Thanks again for getting in touch.
