    • great bike, shame about the service

      Let me start by saying I'm a massive btwin fan, I already own 2 btwin rd bikes both my kids ride btwins and I talked 2 work colleagues in to getting btwins.
      I got this bike in the sale and for the money i feel its got a great spec, there has been a few things I have changed to make it fit me but that's just a personal thing, higher handlebars as standard were giving me back ache after 20miles or so, bigger front disc to improve braking (I am quite heavy) and some bar ends, now I am use to the saddle its comfy for 50miles or so. I really cant fault the bike its now a pleasure to ride and so forgiving over the rough bits and my avg speed has gone up by 2 mph without any extra effort.
      I have to say on this occasion I am very disappointed with the service I have received from decathlon Wednesbury. On my first outing I had issues with the chain jumping, I stopped at the shop on my way home explained the issue for a very stroppy sales assistant to tell me the issue was all my fault due to the bike being dirty (bare in mind I had explained I was on my way home from a 40 mile ride) it turns out the bike had been fitted with a faulty chain which to be fair was changed straight away.
      5 weeks and 200 miles later whilst cleaning the bike I noticed the chain had been routed incorrectly around the rear mech so back to the shop, the chain was routed correctly but the mech is now damaged (although only the separator) and the sales assistant refuses to do anything about it, next the forks would not lock out again the sales assistant told me that Is how they should be luckily another lad heard and said more air was needed which indeed it did. Thirdly the bearings in one of the pedals had gone for this I was told this is down to me to upgrade and the originals are cheap rubbish and decathlon expect us to change these straight away even when I said this is an £800 bike the pedals should last more than 250 miles I was just told go and purchase a 2000 rd bike and these would be just the same, I was eventually offered some cheap plastic btwin pedals I asked for the originals to be ordered and I was told not a chance go and upgrade.
      To sum up the bike is great but the set up and aftersales on this occasion has been shocking I was looking at upgrading to mach or ultra rd bike next year but I really don't know now

      This MTB has a top spec for the price, rides great and looks cool too. You'll do well to find one better for less money.

    • Fantastic Rafal 700 Hardtail - Love It

      I owned several mountain bikes over the years and have now had this bike for 6 weeks. I've done several cross country and single track rides for 1-3 hrs and I love the bike!
      My first trip out was 2hrs+ with some work associates who all turned up with £2k+ bikes and all the kit. Initially thought I was outgunned, but this was not the case! We did some pretty challenging steep trails with plenty of small jumps and gullies, much more extreme than I would usually tackle. The Rafal 700 was great and I had no problem keeping up!
      I love the three stage front suspension adjustment. Fully locked out for road or uphill, 50% for average trails and full travel for rough terrain or downhill. Easy to use when riding along and much better than a simple on/off adjuster.
      The bike handles well and is really responsive but yet still comfortable on longer rides. It also looks great in black/orange with those awesome Mavick wheels!
      I would defiantly recommend as a great fun, responsive and well spec'd hardtail!

      Having owned this bike for 7 months, I am still slightly disappointed as it is just missing something.
      The bike looks the biz & rides well but could benefit from a high gear ratio, it only has 21 gears whereas my previous was 28 gear and this made the ride slightly more testing on the legs (provided by my mum & dad). The change of the suspension quick change should be as the previous model which was only a flick of a button whereas the new R700 has a grip shift system, that I find does not work so well. I would love to recommend if there was that extra gear change & suspension change, but it could just be me!! I am saying I would recommend but there is no entry to say if you are in between the yes or no with reference recommendations.
