    Details
    Product feature
    1. How do we guarantee waterproofing (ability not to allow water to penetrate)?
With a coating: a waterproofing material spread over the inner surface of the fabric. It stops water from penetrating into the clothing but lets the water vapour produced by the body escape. Thus keeping you dry. With the injected plastic front zip (like those of the pockets), which resists the oxidation of the salt thanks to the special shape of its teeth. In combination with a zip flap with drainage, it guarantees optimal waterproofing.
    2. How do we test the waterproofing?
The resistance of the fabric is subjected to the water column test (ISO 811 standard), or a water pressure expressed in mm of a water column. The higher the pressure of the water is without passing through the fabric, the more it is waterproof it is. A component with that is waterproof to 2000 mm therefore resists the pressure of 2000 mm of water. We then test the waterproofing of the entire product: validated by a shower test under 100 litres of water / m2 / hour for 3 hours.
    3. How do we guarantee breathability?
With a coating: a waterproofing material spread over the inner surface of the fabric. It stops water from penetrating into the clothing but lets the water vapour produced by the body escape. Thus keeping you dry. Made using two materials (nylon and mesh), the lining has been specially designed for optimum moisture wicking.
    4. How do we test breathability?
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we measure its evaporative resistance, or RET, (test based on the ISO 11092 standard). It is its ability to allow the water vapour produced by the body during exercise to escape
    5. How do we guarantee water repellency? (the product’s ability to let water flow off the surface)
The faster the water runs off without soaking into the fabric, the higher its water repellency. This prevents the product from swelling with water and keeps it lightweight. (Not to be confused with WATERPROOFING!) This water repellency is obtained by a treatment applied to the outer surface of the fabric.
    6. HOW TO REACTIVE THE JACKET'S WATER REPELLENCY? step 1: before washing
Close all zips and flaps and remove any parts of the garment that cannot be washed. Also remember to loosen the straps and elastic parts and empty the pockets. Then turn the garment inside out to wash it.
    7. HOW TO REACTIVE THE JACKET'S WATER REPELLENCY? step 2: washing
You can wash your jacket on a synthetic cycle at 30° or 40°C with your usual detergent. Do not use fabric conditioner, which could damage the existing performance of the garment, or bleach. Also take care not to bend your jacket too much when you place it in the washing machine and do not overload your machine. Very important: select a thorough rinse or double rinse to completely remove all detergent residue.
    8. HOW TO REACTIVE THE JACKET'S WATER REPELLENCY? step 3: drying
Drying is a crucial phase in reactivating the water repellent treatment. We recommend that you lay your jacket flat on a clothes rack and leave it out to dry in the open. Caution: never dry your jacket directly on a radiator. Then place it in the tumble dryer on a short synthetics cycle, i.e. 10 to 15 minutes, before turning it back the right way round. Caution: do not over-dry the garment.
    9. HOW TO REACTIVE THE JACKET'S WATER REPELLENCY?
If, despite this procedure of washing and thorough rinsing followed by gentle drying in a tumble dryer, the drops of water no longer run off the surface of your jacket, we recommend that you "re-waterproof" it using a waterproofing spray or detergent sold in our stores.
    10. Score to compare the environmental impact of products
The environmental impact of the product is calculated over its entire life cycle and with different indicators. An overall score (ABCDE) is attributed to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing products of the same type with one another (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks, etc.). Decathlon chose to apply this voluntary environmental labelling scheme. For more information, visit: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

    • Much better than the adult version

Looks smart and a good price. Most important it's waterproof which is more than I can say for the adult version, spent 90 minutes in the rain, children's version dry, adults version had wet arms.
    • Great jacket, bargain price

I've just bought a second one of these because my son lost his first one at school. It's a perfect transition jacket, keeping him dry without adding warmth. My son is very slight so the slim cut works well for him, even over a fleece. More average sized children may need to size up. We've had blue and now red. Wish it came in a grass green (not mint/aqua)
    • Brilliant waterproof jacket

Bought for my son going to high school. Totally waterproof despite some heavy rain. A little bulky but we thought that was better than it not being able to keep the bad weather out. Very happy with our purchase.
    • Comfortable rain jacket.

We bought two in different colours. My children say the close cut styling is comfortable to wear and keeps them dry. The hood seems well fitted too. Sizing seems a little on the small size, but going up a size gives a good length too.
    • Great value waterproof jacket
