    1. Buying advice
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the fit of the heel (the heel does not lift, or very little) and front of the foot when walking downhill. Toes do not touch the end. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Feel free to walk around the store. Wear your shoes in gradually during the first hikes, to mould them to your foot.
    2. Care instructions
Use a brush and/or a sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. Then, air dry away from a heat source. Finish by treating it with a re-waterproofing spray to maintain optimal water repellency of the upper and extend the life of the shoe.

    • A Great Boot - But They Don.t Last Long

      JAMES (United Kingdom)
Used for More than 2 years
I bought these boots 4 years ago (my second pair) and they are by far the best fitting boot I've ever worn. Not one blister or even a hot spot. They served me well on a trip to Everest Base Camp in 2014. Reasonably dry in moderate rain, but expect to get wet feet if walking in very wet conditions.

However, they do tend to fall apart after 2 to 3 years, dependant on useage.

Just about to order my 3rd pair for a trip to Scotland in Oct. I expect to get wet, but hoping some decent gaiters will help keep the wet out for most of the day. Fingers crossed.

Highly recommended for the 3 season walking.
    • renegade ankle support boots

      John (United Kingdom)
Used for More than 2 years
Having had problems with ankle support and having tried "cat" and "timberland" I found the RENEGADE boots not only gave me the support I needed they are way more comfortable and waterproof to boot"sorry". I have just bought my second pair and my wife has also bought a pair and is delighted with them.
    • Very good boots with some slight caveats

      Craig (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Very comfortable boots. I walked with them twice now, once a 10 mile snow, slush and muddy walk and the second time a 13 mile path and field walk. After both walks my feet were perfectly dry and comfortable, so they are great straight out the box and don't need wearing in. My only concern so far is that the soles didn't give me quite as much grip as I was expecting, however the conditions were very poor (cold and wet with some snow/ice). Perhaps no boots of this type would have done any better? Soles did also get clogged endlessly and were quite difficult and time consuming to clean, but again perhaps that was down to the bad conditions and perhaps no others would have been much better.
    • Quality has declined badly

      Ronald (United Kingdom)
Used for More than 2 years
Having previously had a pair of these for around 4 years without issue I expected to get another decent spell from my latest pair, not so! The original pair where fantastic. Comfortable, waterproof and hard wearing so when I bought replacements last winter I expected to get a few years out of them, not so. The left hand boot leaked badly within the first few months of use, and no amount of cleaning/proofing fixed the problem, took them back for a replacement and got a new pair no problem last August, this is only January and the new pair are falling apart, the main sole is coming away on the right hand boot now. That’s 2 pairs in a year that have failed.
