Battery range: 25 km in economy mode / 20 km in normal mode / 15 km in sport mode (distances provided for reference only, may vary depending on the terrain, the conditions of use, and the weight of the rider). Battery life: 2 years (350 to 500 charge cycles).

Fold-down, height-adjustable aluminium stem for added comfort. Semi-raised aluminium handlebars. Seat post diameter: 33.9 mm.

    7. Brakes
Promax aluminium V-Brake callipers provide powerful, progressive braking. Aluminium levers with rubber pads for added comfort. Braking cuts out electric assistance. Remember: The brake pads on electrically-assisted bikes wear down more quickly than a classic bike due to the weight and power of the motor.
    8. Accessories/Equipment
Battery-powered front and rear lights with handlebar control.
    9. Care tips
Tyres lose pressure over time. This is normal since bike inner tubes are slightly porous. Don't forget to check your tyre pressure regularly. Riding with under-inflated tyres reduces your battery range, requires more pedalling effort, and increases the risk of punctures. Before performing any work on your electric bike (cleaning, electrical or mechanical maintenance), you must turn off your electric bike and remove the battery.
    Product testing
    1. Composition
      Frame : 100.0% Aluminium
    2. Storage advice
B’Twin recommends charging the battery after each ride. If it is flat, charge it as soon as possible. Irreparable damage may occur if the battery remains flat for too long.
    3. Product catchline
The lightest (18.6 kg), the most dynamic (removable battery built into the frame), and the easiest to store, of all of our electric bicycles.

    • B'Twin Hoptown 500

      Sebastian (United Kingdom)
Used for 3 to 6 months
As an elderly man with a walking problem - weak legs - I rely on a bicycle for all trips greater than about 30 yards. I need a folding bike which will go in the car, but the previous one was getting difficult for me to pedal. The Hoptown 500 solves both these problems, the electric assistance means I no longer have to struggle or be afraid of hills - it is a perfect solution and gives me much more freedom and range. It means I am not yet a wheelchair or mobility scooter case and won't be for a long time! Overall, well designed and built, and practical - particularly the way the battery is incorporated into the frame, low down and central, best for stability (rather than being hooked on outside looking like an "afterthought", as in much of the competition). Sadle adjustable for the tallest rider as well as the smallest (I am 6' 2"). Out of all the models I looked at, this seems to offer the best value for money, offering everything you woud need or expect of an electric folder, including lights, but at one of the lowest prices. For me, the ideal general-purpose runabout. I am delighted with it!
      Well thought-out and elegant design.
Lack of rear rack - but easily fitted afterwards.
    • Excellent city bike

Excellent little city run around. Living in a hilly city centre where bike storage is a problem, this bike works very well. It is clearly a well made piece of kit, with built in lights and a very solid feel to it. Around the flat areas of the city, it is amazing. I am a fit and experienced cyclist but I wanted something which wouldn't have me arriving at my destination all sweaty- this serves that purpose well. On very few occasions I contend with big and fairly long hills (400ft climb over 1 mile)- if you are fit and light (I'm 75kg) it still gives a bit of assistance, but expect to do at least 50% of the work. I can move slowly up the hill with a fair bit of effort from me, and this does put a big draw on the battery which if not fully charged when you hit the hill may be a problem. I can get to the top without feeling like my chest is about to explode as I do when on my road bike which is nice!!

Some negative points- the bike is bigger when folded than I had hoped (but having never had a folding bike before this size is to be expected I imagine). A bag would help in terms of handling when carrying upstairs to my flat and for storage.

It came in a MASSIVE bike box- seemed a bit unnecessary- all that wasted cardboard not great for the environment.

It came with a charging cable with an EU plug on it, so had to pop into the city to get a 'visitors' adaptor. Not a biggie but that's another £5 to spend.

No instruction manual in box (just a generic one not specific to electric bikes)- this must be downloaded from this webpage.

Slightly annoyingly, I found today that it cuts out completely and needs turning on again occasionally. Will have to monitor this but glad to have Decathlon's guarantee...
Copes with hills well (if you are fit)
Bigger than expected, came with EU plug fitting
    • great E-Bike

This is a great E-Bike, its very nippy and the bike is fairly light to carry. Its easy to fold up and to get the battery out of the centre post. I have not had it long but the battery charge does seem to last longer than my last E-Bike that i had from Halfords. I use the bike every day to go swimming and its a very pleasant experience and certainly helps on the hills.
Speed, easy to fold, and distance it travels.

      Margaret (United Kingdom)

With having asthma my bike riding activities were not enjoyable. Since getting my new electric assist bike I no longer think twice about going out. The hills are really easy to manage and I can keep up with my husband. The bike is so easy to use and very comfortable to ride. The fact that it folds down with great ease is a bonus so I can take it on long trips.
Very easy to use and rides real nice on the road
