    Product feature
    1. Can I be sure my jacket will protect me well in bad weather?
To face different weather (rain, snow, wind...), the FREE 500 jacket has been developed and produced using a special component to prevent water from entering. In order to validate the waterproof rating, the jacket was placed under a special shower that replicates the real-life conditions faced by a snowboarder on the slopes. Finally, we spent several days snowboarding in all conditions to validate the waterproofness of the product.
    2. What does the water repellency of my jacket actually do?
Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in thanks to a treatment that is applied to its exterior. The fabric is not waterlogged, it stays light and warm. This treatment must be renewed during the product’s lifespan, after 2 to 3 washes on average with the help of the products offered in our stores. All waterproof Wed'ze jackets receive a water-repellency treatment.
    3. "Coated" jacket: what are the advantages of this coating?
A breathable coating is a coating applied to a fabric in the form of a paste or liquid in order to create a protective film. A breathable coating serves as a waterproof barrier that allows water vapour through.
    4. What is a membrane and what's it for?
A membrane is a very thin component (between 5 and 25 micrometres) applied to the internal surface of a textile support to give great capacities in terms of waterproofness and breathability.
    5. Water often gets in through the seams. Does my jacket have waterproof seams?
As well as the waterproof material, taped seams are incorporated to strength the waterproofing of the FREE 500 jacket. These are waterproof adhesive strips fixed to the inside seams of the garment to make it perfectly watertight. These taped seams are present on the areas most exposed to snow.
    6. How will my Free 500 jacket keep me warm?
To keep you warm, we use wadding insulation. Wadding is a synthetic component made from polyester which stores more or less air, depending on the size of the fibres. Wadding can be standard, hi-tech or siliconised, each with different properties (warmth, lightweight, supple, etc.). Free 500 trousers also offer an additional layer of warmth at the buttocks for greater comfort when sitting in the snow.
    7. How can I be sure about the durability of my jacket?
We take particular care in choosing all the elements and assemblies that make up our products, to guarantee the best possible resistance. We know how much energy is expended during a day's skiing or snowboarding!
    8. What is a "breathable" jacket?
Breathability is the jacket’s ability to let the moisture escape. This has been produced by the body during exertion. The aim is to stay dry. Wed'ze uses materials that help prevent condensation inside the garment.
    9. How should I dress to avoid feeling cold on the slopes?
In order to keep warm and dry, we recommend using the 3-layer rule. The principle is simple: Use 3 layers of fabric, each having a particular function. Your under-garment must produce and keep in the warmth. Your jumper or sweatshirt provides you with warmth whereas the jacket protects you from bad weather. All these layers should be breathable in order to evacuate humidity.
    10. How can I stop snow from coming into my jacket?
Our jackets have elasticated snow skirts that can be adjusted at the waist. If you fall or ski in fresh snow, the seal keeps the snow out.
    11. Can I compare the products' environmental impact?
"The product's environmental impacts are calculated across its entire life cycle using various indicators. A score of A, B, C, D or E is made to help you easily identify the most eco-friendly products by comparing products of a similar type (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks). For Decathlon, this initiative to display environmental data is a priority. Video explanation:"
    12. Storm cuffs
Your ski jacket features cuffs at the wrists. They prevent unpleasant cold draughts and snow from getting inside in the event of a fall.
    13. Ski pass pocket
You no longer need to get your ski pass out because your sleeve has a ski pass pocket to allow you to access the cable cars quickly.
    14. Snow skirt
The snow skirt is a protection system at waist level that closes with press snaps at the bottom of the ski or snowboard jacket. It prevents snow and air from getting in when skiing and especially in case of a fall.
    15. Audio output
The jacket features an Audio output in the inside pocket for passing a hands-free phone kit, audio cable for listening to music, etc.
    16. Care instructions
To optimise your jacket's performance and durability, we advise the following: Machine wash separately at 30°C. Synthetic cycle. Turn inside out. Use a small amount of detergent. No fabric softener. Wring out manually. Dry on a hanger in a warm, well-ventilated place. Do not dry clean. Do not place on a radiator. You can re-waterproof the outer fabric using an aerosol waterproofing spray for fabric. Read the care tag carefully.
