    7. Additional recommended products
Rain-Cut Pant overtrousers or waterproof leggings for complete protection for the lower legs and provide comprehensive and highly effective protection from the most violent storms. Care products: spray or liquid water-repellent treatment in the washing machine. To renew the fabric's water-repellent properties and optimise performance throughout the lifespan of your garment.
    8. Component waterproofing
The resistance of a fabric is measured using water pressure expressed in water column mm (test based on ISO 811). The higher the water pressure, the more waterproof the fabric. A component with 2000mm waterproofing therefore resists the pressure exercised by 2000mm of water (which corresponds to about a 2-hour rain shower).
    9. Waterproofness of the garment
Technologies: this garment has been subjected to a shower test using 100 litres of water/sqm/hour for 3 hours. This test reproduces the conditions of a violent storm in the mountains.
    10. Component breathability
To find out whether a fabric is breathable, we test its evaporative resistance or RET (based on the ISO 11092 standard). The lower the resistance, the more the fabric lets water vapour generated by body movements escape, therefore the more breathable it is. For example: RET < 9 = extremely breathable fabric / 920 = little or no breathability.
    11. Breathability of the garment
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of all its walking jackets, over-trousers and rain capes (Forclaz, Bionnassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems both regulate the temperature inside the garment and help wick away perspiration generated by the body during exercise.
    12. Water-repellent properties of the component
Water-repellent fabric allows water to run off its surface without seeping in. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The water repellent property is achieved by treating the fabric's exterior. This treatment must be renewed throughout the garment's lifetime (recommended after every 3 washes).. All Quechua waterproof ponchos and capes have received a water repellent treatment.
    13. Breathability of the garment
In addition to breathable fabrics, Quechua develops technical solutions (zips, ventilation, mesh, etc.) to improve the overall ventilation of its trekking jackets, overtrousers and rain capes (Forclaz, Bionassay and Helium lines). These ventilation systems allow to both regulate the temperature inside of the garment and help wick away perspiration generated by the body during exercise.
    14. Water repellent component
The water resistance of a fabric is its ability to let water slide on its surface without absorbing it. This prevents the fabric from swelling, and keeps it lightweight, breathable and warm. The water resistance is obtained by a treatment applied to the outside of the fabric. This treatment needs to be repeated throughout the product's lifespan (we recommend every 3 washes). All Quechua waterproof ponchos and capes have received a water repellent treatment.
    15. A note to compare the environmental impact of the products
The environmental impacts of the product are calculated throughout its lifecycle and with different indicators. An ABCDE note is performed to help you easily identify the products with the best environmental performance by comparing the products of the same type between them (T-shirts, trousers, backpacks...). Decathlon is a voluntary player of this approach of environmental labelling. For more info: http://sustainability.decathlon.com/

I saw a lot of comment on Camino forums about other poncho makes which are not available in the UK.
This poncho from Decathlon cost less and when I finally compared it to the other make on the Camino I found it to be not only better value but seems to use a stronger fabric.(and thus weighing a little more)
Wore it first on a very wet and windy crossing to Roncesvalles and it kept me and my backpack both warm and dry.
Full zip and velcro. Under arm vents with zip
