    Product feature
    1. Crosscontact sole
We researched this sole design extensively in our laboratories, along with a specific rubber formula to optimise grip and traction. We systematically seek the best compromise between the different needs when hiking on muddy or dry terrain.
    2. Waterproofing test
Footwear waterproofing test: tested in laboratory and actual usage conditions, the shoes are equipped with waterproof and breathable membrane to provide optimal protection from rain. First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. They are half immersed and then placed on a mechanical arm that simulates walking: we then check that the inside of the shoe remains perfectly dry.
    3. Waterproofing level
During the waterproofing test, we test 3 levels of waterproofing: 2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. The Forclaz 100 Waterproof boot passes level of 4000 flexes.
    4. Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. Using waterproof gaiters or mini gaiters, it is therefore recommended to keep your feet dry for longer periods by protecting the top part of your shoes and prevent water from getting in as well as pebbles, sand, etc. Use of a re-waterproofing spray is recommended several times per year. This will help your shoes recover their original water-repellent qualities and combat outer stains.
    5. Buying tips
Try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes, if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to walk around the store. Gradually start using your boots during your first few hiking trips to break them in.
    6. Which size should I select?
When taking up hiking, do not hesitate to take a size above your usual shoe size to guarantee an optimal comfort when walking downhill and to prevent your toes rubbing the tops of the shoe. Tip: Before any descent, make sure your nails are cut and check that your laces are tightened to prevent your foot from sliding forward in the shoe.
    7. Field tests
All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our "Missions Tests" put the product manager in contact with people who are not affiliated with Quechua to test, develop and validate the products.

The shoe is ideal for walking the dog or low level walks both in the country and town. It is comfortable, waterproof and has a good grip.

      Rob (United Kingdom)
Used for 2 to 8 weeks
Really comfortable sturdy waking shoe at a great price
    • Too lightweight construction and too narrow

      Graham (United Kingdom)
Used for 1 week or less
For the price you might not expect much, but there's no point supplying something that is such poor quality. I have a previous model and they lasted well, but these are lighter weight material, narrower and the toe box is also lower. I returned them straight away.
