    • Works really well - if you use it as intended

This is our second 900 series Decathlon board, the other being a 7ft model. We live right by the sea and I can confidently claim "expert" but not "pro" ability and usually surf a 5'10" (or 6'1" in bigger waves) peformance shortboard.
We bought this mainly with the kids in mind but wanted the stronger stiffer model so myself and my wife could use it. It's nice and light and stiff too and good to see FCS type fins on it.
It catches almost anything - I'm getting waves even longboards struggle to catch but once up, the soft rails and slight flex means it will not bottom turn like a "normal" board - you need to keep the board fairly flat and ease out those turns. It carries a decent amount of speed though and goes off the top well - re-entries and floaters are easy but don't try and gouge a hard turn because that flex/soft rail won't let you. So surf it "mellow" and extend those turns and you'll have a lot of fun. It's also duckdiveable too (I'm just over 70kgs) which is a big advantage over the big foam boards.

For learners and kids it's light, easy to carry and pretty stable. Overall as long as you set your expectations right, it's a great little board - terrific value for money too.

Pretty fun little groveler for soft waves.
      Paddles into mush well.
Would be super cool to see what a skilled surfer could do - someone like JOB.
This board could easily rival the Odysea & similar boards.
