    Product feature
    1. Crosscontact sole
We researched this sole design extensively in our laboratories, along with a specific rubber formula to optimise grip and traction. We systematically seek the best compromise between the different needs when hiking on muddy or dry terrain.
    2. Footwear waterproofing test.
First, the shoe is immersed in water while internal air pressure is applied to check that no bubbles form on the surface of the footwear. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry. Next, shoes are fitted to a mechanical arm that simulates walking and half immersed in water so we can test that the inside remains perfectly dry.
    3. 3 levels of waterproofing.
2000 flexes (around 2 hours of walking), 4000 flexes (around 4 hours of walking) and 8000 flexes (around 8 hours of walking). Of course, after this test or in use, the shoe regains its original waterproofing once dry. Forclaz 500 high hiking boots for children are waterproof for 4,000 flexes.
    4. Making waterproofing last longer
A shoe's waterproofing is often undermined by water getting in from the top of the shoe. So to keep your feet dry for longer, we recommend wearing long or short waterproof leg warmers over the top of your boots, to prevent water from seeping in, as well as sand and pebbles. We recommend applying a water-proofing spray several times a year to maintain water repellency and prevent staining on outer layers.
    5. Buying guide.
Allow children to try on both shoes, standing up, with the socks worn for hiking. Try on several models or sizes if necessary. Check two comfort points: the base of the heel and the front part of the foot going down. Avoid all pressure points when trying them on. Don't hesitate to allow then to walk around the store. Make children gradually break into the shoes when first worn so that they adapt to their feet.
    6. Which size should I select?
For hiking, do not hesitate to buy one size larger than the usual size to guarantee excellent comfort on the descent and to avoid toes rubbing at the tip of the shoe. Recommendation: nails must be cut short, and before descending, check that the laces stop the foot from slipping forward to the front of the shoe.
    7. Field tests
All our shoes undergo comfort and use tests carried out by users who are representative of our target market, in conditions identical to those found in typical use. Our Field Test Missions team the product manager up with people who are unaffiliated with Quechua, to test, improve and validate our products.
    8. Laboratory tests
Further laboratory tests were conducted to test the following elements: attachment of eyelets and webbing, assembly, toxicology, UV resistance, sole and upper component abrasion, accelerated ageing.
    Product testing
    1. Composition
Outer sole of : 100.0% Polyurethane (PU) Upper of : 50.0% Polyester (PES), 50.0% Polyurethane (PU) Lining and sock of : 100.0% Polyester (PES)
    2. Storage advice
Store in a dark, dry and well-ventilated place.
    3. Cleaning advice
Use the brush and/or sponge to clean the shoe and remove dirt or mud residue. The use of cream or waterproof grease on split leather is not recommended. While it will not damage the leather, it will change the look of your shoe.
    4. Product restrictions
Shoe fit not suited to adult feet.
    5. Product catchline
Ideal for use on mountain paths. Its Crosscontact sole and reinforced upper will help you get a secure foothold and good ankle support. You'll love the waterproof membrane
